Clutch pedal too stiff

Hi I own a 1993 Honda del sol and I was wondering as to why my clutch is so hard to press in. Any suggestions as to what to inspect first? Please ans thank you.

Any work done previously to the car? Did it suddenly or gradually become harder to depress?

I bought the car like that. Nothing that I know of has been done to the car besides basic maintenance which the last owner wasn't very good at. The only thing I can say is it's too stiff when pressing down on the clutch.
