Default Quarter Panel replacement - Adhesive question

In the process of replacing both rear quarters and as I was grinding away some adhesive between the chassis and fenders was wondering what some of you have replaced it with? Is there some off the shelf stuff that I could use from home depot or does Honda actually have a replacement adhesive

Honestly not sure what it is, it seems to be a pretty thick (tan-ish) material just under both rear taillights where the rear fender would have been welded onto the rear of the car. I've read a few posts about people replacing their rear fenders and this was a common stop to grind away (well I used a metal brush grinder) but once its gone I was wondering what the heck to replace it with because no write ups out there specify what it actually is or if they even replaced it with something (which is why I was wondering if there is some construction grade duplicate possibly at home depot).

If you follow this link and go to the third picture down its the material just under the rear taillight (looks a little discolored in the picture) Civic EG View topic - Fixing your Honda Rust

Yeah that looks like seam sealer. I just bought a can of brushable seam sealer to, well seal up the areas again when i replaced my rear quarter. I think i may have ordered it off amazon actually.

ok great, now did you apply this on after you welded everything together and did you apply it solely on the exterior or did you put anything on the interior as well? Makes sense just on the outside since your trying to prevent moisture getting in vs inside but just checking.

I did my repair a little differently. I used 3m panel adhesive to repair my quarters, so I used the seam sealer on the inside as an added layer of protection.

Thanks for the update man appreciate it. I finally got a hold of another guy who did a rust overhaul. Trying to chat with him via FB currently. I'll post any updates regarding adhesive and his take and process. Whats nice about his post is its been some time since he has done the work so might have some take away in terms of how things progressed over time.
