Re: Some Thoughts on Track Days vs. Autocross I Pondered
I returned to autocross after several years of karting, and the first autocross I ran, I flubbed a corner on my fourth run. I thought "I can carry more speed here next lap" before I realised I had no next lap. Lesson: autocross puts a premium on getting down to a quick time in just a few laps. I had noticed the effect in my karting days: I was always relatively quicker in the early laps of a race than my competitors who were taking time to get down to a quick lap, at which point they were quicker than me because i am not really all that good. Competent, not brilliant.
