Hey everyone, having a rough day hopefully i can get some help. Not a very good mechanic. I pulled my distributor and must have done something wrong when i put it back on cause it didnt start. Took it back off thinking I must of had the rotor backwards and when i got it back off both the notches on the key were broken off. Not sure what I did to cause that, I pulled one of the pieces out with a magnet but I cant find the other one. Any ideas on how to find it? any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

 

It may have fallen out already, check on top of the transmission.

What caused the keyway to break is installing the distributor 180° out. Keyway is offset from center, it can be forced on 180° but the teeth will break off and you will have a no start condition.
