Can someone explain to me the OBDII smog check in CA now?
I have a 2000 Civic that used to barely pass smog. Now I'm being told that the car's tailpipe emissions are no longer checked during a smog check and instead it just uses the OBDII sensors. Does that mean I no longer have to do all the things I used to do to help pass smog; let the catalytic converter get really hot before a test, using ISO-HEET to get the car's emissions lower.
Turns out it’s easier to cheat the system with an older car though. My 2000 would pass plug in with flying colors but I still had trouble finding someone who would let it go on visual.

Yeah I went to a smog check place that said they wouldn't pass me because I had a AEM cold air intake, even though it has the CARB sticker that proves it's a valid mod to stay smog legal.
