Default D17A JDM Engine VTEC Controller

I am swapping in D17A JDM Engine into my D17a1 LX non VTEC Car. I was wondering which, VTEC controller would be best with out breaking the bank. I do not wan't to spend $200 on ebay for Apexi controller if another cheaper controller can work. The motor at a JDM engine importer cost me $500 so I don't want to spend half that amount of money on a VTEC controller. Any suggestion is gladly appreciated.

Just buy a stock D17A2 VTEC Ecu. This way you will get both the proper VTEC operation AND the proper fuel and timing maps to go with it. A VTEC controller cannot do that, and the LX D17A ECU doesn't recognize the crossover, so no additional fuel and timing is added for VTEC.
