98 Honda Accord p 1382 CMP no signal
Hi I have a 98 Honda Accord and I'm wondering if there's any sensors inside of the Hitachi distributor because if there is I might just swap out the distributor and maybe the check engine light and that code will go away I have code p1382 cmp no signal
Yes, the crank position sensor is inside. To check it, the wiring and PCM do the following:
Partially plagiarized from another site.
P1382 is a circuit fault of the Cylinder Position (CYP) Sensor.
Circuit fault can be sensor, connector, wiring, or PCM. Diagnostics are required to determine location of fault.
Disconnect the distributor connector and inspect the sensor leads (yellow and black wires).
Measure the sensor resistance, should be 800 to 1500 ohms.
Measure each sensor wire to ground. If either shows continuity to ground replace the distributor.
If above is ok then,
Reconnect connector at distributor.
Disconnect CYP wires at PCM by releasing connector C at PCM.
Check resistance again between pins 29 and 30 on connector C. It should be 800 to 1500 ohm unless there is a wiring or connector fault.
If fault is detected, it must be located by checking wires separately and inspection.
If resistance at PCM connector is same as at distributor connector, then the PCM is probably at fault.
