Default 1994 Honda Accord Belts and center console

Hello. I have a 1994 Honda Accord. 2.2L VTEC in-line 4... 5-speed manual....... and i just replaced the 2 belts.. and whenever i start it up it makes a screeching sound. Does this mean the belt is too loose or too tight? and also... my center console doesn’t want to snap and stay together.. and every time i lean on it.. it raises up. any suggestions? what would be the best and convenient way to fix the console.. thanks!

Belts are most likely loose. Did you make sure all the pulleys were good while y pi u had the belts off though?

it never made this sound before.. so i’m guessing they are just more loose than they were originally?

Yea when you're tightening the belt grab a prybar (if you're by yourself) to keep it in place as you ratchet it down. Really easy is if you have two people... As for the console, in my exp it popped up because it's not connected to the ebrake section but that was small, not sure without pictures.
