96 DX 2 door coupe - manual glass problems
I'm having trouble with my driver's door Glass. I'm consulting Chapter 20 of the Honda FSM. I'm looking for the most common adjustment errors, or parts to look for that may be loose or broken.
Today's complaint was:
the forward edge of the Glass jumps outboard of the Front Channel (jamming the glass in place)
i fixed it today by loosening the Front Channel lower bolt, slipping the Glass back inside the Channel, and re-tightening the bolt
I tested it a couple of times up and down since then...and the Glass popped out once again, for reasons that are not apparent to me.
i had to replace the glass six months ago (when the previous replacement Glass' bottom mounts broke off, seemingly due to glue/epoxy failure). Ever since re-install, the effort required on the regulator handle did seem to be a little much about halfway up and down glass's run...however the glass has otherwise functioned fine (and seemed to be adjusted properly, per the FSM).
I should also add that:
The top edge of the interior Door Panel is good and fully whooped...the stiff yellow/orange parts are super brittle and break off easily, including all the holes that receive the Inner Molding tabs. As a result the Inner Molding can no longer be secured to the Door Panel (I hang the sorry state of affairs Door Panel on the door as best I can, and the Inner Molding rides in the trunk).
Can the absence of the Inner Molding contribute to the Glass jumping out of the Front Channel ? The Inner Molding would nominally keep the glass more "up and down" (instead of making a break outboard halfway down the channel) however the FSM 20-22 indicates that (obviously) the Glass adjustment is made without the Door Panel installed...
Appreciate any help -

Yes, put in a new regulator first. Don't try one from a junkyard it's likely to be just as worn out as yours is.
The inside door panel is basically cosmetic trim, it doesn't have anything to do with how the glass moves.
