I've got a 98 civix with the d16y8 and It needed a transmission and I was reading around and everyone said the d16z6 transmission will work so I found one for cheap and I found it has a throttle like cable and mine just had an electrical plugin , does anyone know what the cable is and if I'm screwed and need to find another trans or if I can just take the cable off New trans Old trans
I think whomever advised you about the D16Z6 trans assumed you were talking manual and not automatic.
I do not believe you can use a 5th gen automatic on a 6th gen car.
That cable you are referring to tells the transmission what the throttle is doing mechanically via the cable. I think in 6th gen there is a lot more automation done through the ECU's Transmission Control Module (TCM). On the 5th gen the TCM only controls 4th gear and torque converter lock up. By the looks, your 6th gen automatic uses ecu controlled throttle cable response instead of analog cable driven.
