Default Need help. 95 s.

I just picked up my first Del sol and my idle is a steady 2.3k. if I get aggressive on the highway it'll be 3k for a bit. I have a new iacv, tps, and fitv. If I touch the throttle backwards, just a touch on the throttle body, it'll start to die then surge. Is a junkyard tb ok or should I buy new, also having a hard time finding through the local parts stores

Clean the TB and adjust the throttle cable.

Thanks, I'll try that after I swap the clutch today. Last owner was young and did a mild engine bay tuck. Is there an easy way to test his connections?

Be sure to adjust the clutch pedal height exactly as described in the service manual.

Umm. Wut? This is my first clutch swap. I have notes from a pretty good utube, no manual until Christmas.

Got the clutch done and squared away, thanks for the advice. Idle is still high, i think I'm going to redo the kids wire tuck connections and see what that does

Did you also clean IACV and FITV?

I've cleaned the tb, and replaced and calibrated a new tps. Now my idle bounces from 700 to 1700ish. I cleaned my tb again, and the fitv, iacv. The fitv was tight but clearly has been adjusted several times. I'm about to go replace and test.

Make sure the sensor plugs are plugged into the correct things by checking the wire colors. Check that the CEL works and that there are no codes.

The throttle cable should be slack and the throttle plate completely closed when no one is pressing the gas. Do not over-tighten the cable trying to keep it running.

With a 2-wire IACV you set the idle system as follows: Warm up the engine, unplug the IACV and the speed should drop to about 450 rpm (i.e. barely running). Adjust the big slotted air screw on the top of the throttle body to achieve this. Plug the IACV back in and a normal idle should pick up. Also when you unplug the IACV the CEL should immediately come on with a code 14.

Previous owner tightened throttle cable all the way, closed the idle screw completely. All the wires are correct. If I loosen the throttle cable and crack the idle screw I don't think it'll start, or do I not understand it enough?

Sorry, cable was fully loosened. I just warmed it up, got the bouncy idle, put my finger in the tb over the iacv hole and idle dropped low af and held steady.

Cleaned the iacv again. Now i have a "rubber chicken" sound under my hood. Went away after warm, bouncy idle started, chicken sound came back when I killed the ignition.

Local parts store wants $150+, is a junkyard iacv worth looking into?

Yes, but take a multi-meter with you and test before you buy. Or, if they are cheap enough, buy 2 or 3 and use the first one that works.
