Default Pics for archive: Stock OEM plug-Stock plugs with 60k

I know the plugs tell you alot about how a motor is running:

Need some expertise advise on how these things look
Thank you.

60k plugs: To me they just a bit of carbon on them, I could probably run them longer but since im doing a valve adjustment I thought id change them

Stock plug: How pretty

See how the electrode, or whatever the hell it is, is rounded? That means your plugs are *very* worn. The color of them looks fine, just a little rich = good.

On an Integra LS, how often are you supposed to change your Spark Plugs?

The electrode is fine (ie. not worn --> rounded). This is the shape of the electode on a platinum plug (eg. see the shape of the electrode of the new plug). Now if the plug was a copper plug, it would be considered worn.

BTW, you can go to http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinf...q/faqread2.asp for some very informative information (with picture ) which shows how to "read" a spark plug.

Acura uses NGK and Denso plugs as OE plugs. My '94 GS-R came with Denso platinum plugs.

Yes, they are platinum and they are equivalent to the NGK PFR6G-13. Look at the stick on the undeside of your hood. It should show you the NGK and Denso spark plug part number for your car.

The RS/LS/GS/SE use copper plugs and the service manual states that they should be replaced every 30,000 miles. They GS-R/Type-R use platinum plugs and they should be replaced every 60,000 miles.

It's hard to say how much longer they will last. If they have 60K miles on them, I would replace them.
