Recommended aftermarket master cylinder for 96 Accord?
Fairly certain I need a new master cylinder for my Accord (brake pedal must be pushed hard and to the floor to stop, no leaks, no change in fluid level, all new brake lines last year).
Bought one from autozone (new, not reman) was planning on having it installed, but mechanic @ dealership said they had some bad luck w/ aftermarket master cylinders (piston being out of spec and causing brakes to drag/lock when system heats up), and recommended OEM (I can bring my own parts, and this is being done as side work so it's not like he's trying to make extra $ off me).
Any recommended aftermarkets, or should i really just bite the bullet and spend the extra c-note for a OEM one?
Also, if I do go w/ aftermarket, and what he cautioned against happened, I would assume this is something that would be noticed right away once everything gets up to temp, not months or years down the line, correct? I'm thinking it's a kinda pass/fail situation.
Not that I'm trying to be cheap, but on a 23 year old car w/ 230k miles (and a decent amt of rust from road salt winters) even cheap parts will likely outlive the car as long as they are safe and functional.
