Default ABS codes on 2001 Honda Accord 3.0L - now what?

2001 Honda Accord sedan V6

ABS and TCS lights have been on and off for the past year. I live in WI and winter is fast approaching. Time to get this thing fixed. Recently purchased an ABS/SRS code reader. The reader also allows me to do several different bidirectional tests on the ABS unit. I haven't done any of them yet.

The following codes are present:
81-1 ABS control unit failure
31-2 Engine retard command signal
34-2 Throttle position reference voltage failure
51-1 ABS pump motor failure
53-1 ABS pump motor relay short circuit

I understand that often times if a particular part fails it triggers other items to not work properly or fail as well. I don't want to throw expensive parts at this car.
Where do I start?

Thank you!

Try cleaning ALL the abs system electrical connectors, fuse and relay pins. Do the same with the wheel sensors. Inspect the wheel wiring for fraying. Check the fuses. reset and see what happens.

Thanks. I've already cleaned up the ground wire contacts that appear to be coming from the abs unit and attached to the wheel well. (There was a single wire and a set of wire joined together.) I've ohms tested the abs motor and abs f/s fuses - .3 ohms each. I also checked the abs pump relay switch and it sounds like it is operating and reads about .3 ohms when engaged. Should I reset system/attempt to erase codes now and take it for a test drive before tackling the wheel sensors? Do I feel lucky???

PS. Any advice for checking and potentially replacing the original and potentially rusted in place wheel sensors?
Thanks!

Wheel sensors can be a real pain, soak them good with PB Blaster for 24 hours then gently work them lose. Just be very careful with the sensor bolt. The main thing is to check the wheel sensor connectors and wiring. Reset away, if the modulator is done the codes will come back.

Update: I did the ground wire contact cleanup and checked the abs relay and related fuses (all good). Started the car and the ABS/TCS lights are off. I test drove the vehicle and activated the ABS and TCS several times on a stretch of icy roads we have here in WI. Both systems worked as usual. I'll be using the car on and off the next couple days and see what happens. I didn't go back and erase the abs codes. I thought I'd leave good enough alone, at least for now. I did however PB blast all wheel sensor connectors while I had the car on ramps for an oil change, so hopefully I'd be ready if I need to attempt the wheel sensor change. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks again!

all good, glad you didn't need to throw parts at it
