Default Tire Sizes

Hey I have a 2013 Honda Civic LX Automatic Sedan. Is it okay to have 17inch rims and 225/455/17 all season tires on it? I live in upstate new York and wanted to know if it is safe in winter to use them. Thanks!

A few comments:
  • Tires in the size of 225/45 R17 are a close match in diameter compared to the 195/65 R15 tires which came on your car so the good news is the speedometer and odometer will be pretty close to accurate.
  • The bad news is the wider tires will perform pretty crappy in snow compared to the OEM width of 195mm. If you plan on driving in snow of any depth at all I would not use these.

Agree with shipo... the 225 would be great for every day in normal condition but in the snow/ice the 195 will perform better. Again in all other conditions the 225/45/17 would out perform the 195 except for the frigid cold.
