How do I change my fuel filter? 2002 Accord.
I'm curious about my fuel filter. My car is running fine, no power issues and no check code, but it has 181,000 miles and the fuel filter has never been changed. Is this something I need to be concerned about?
How would I change the fuel filter? *I'm thinking removing the fuel tank. Is that so?
EDIT:
Found this video just now. What do you guys think?

There is a strainer in the tank and a filter on the outside somewhere. On my 94, it is under the master cylinder. Looks like you need some crows feet, for me, to break it loose. With the cheapest set of crows feet I have found coming in at $40, I might just have someone else odo it.
*I have never used "crow's feet." I know it's a sort of wrench with changeable ends. I'll have to see a video now. To the Youtube cave Robin!
Correct, these days fuel is so clean most new cars don't even come with a fuel filter.
Well that's a relief. With 181K miles I am getting more and more interested in keeping her going at least until 250K miles. Just wish she was a manual. Thanks for the info!

May not hurt, there there is no benefit either. Many folks don't want to believe it, but the filter is meant to last the life of the car, and unless you plan on driving a half-million miles, the odds are good replacing the filter will cause more issues than leaving the factory filter alone.

I'm shooting for 250K miles out of her unless I come across a good 98 to 02 manual shift I like and can afford.
I was looking for a friend out in the San Francisco Bay area and recently found a very clean 2001 Accord EX sedan with only about 100,000 miles on the clock and the price was a very reasonable $2,000. Might be worth a road trip if something else like that pops up.
Shipo,
Thanks man. I often look through CL pages of states where road salt is not an issue and look for just that. I can't move on anything right at the moment but hopefully that will change in the coming months. Seeing cars like you refer to gives me hope "there is still one out there for me."
