2005 Honda Element Battery Light Troubles
So this problem began about two weeks ago. I was driving home when I noticed that my battery light had come on, so I drove as far as I could before my car finally stalled. My dad came and gave me a jump and drove it home, where it stalled again in the driveway. We took out the alternator that night, as well as the battery, and we took them to our local Autozone. Upon running their tests, they came back and said that both the battery and alternator were fine. They charged up my battery, and once we got around to putting the alternator and battery back in, my dad took it back to Autozone to have the charging system checked. It passed their test, and I started driving it around again (I started driving it again on Tuesday of this past week, and the first time I stalled was a week before). Last night, I was coming home and my battery light came on again. Thankfully, I was able to get it home before it could stall. I removed the battery almost immediately after, and we took it to an Advanced Auto Parts in another town, and they gave it a clean bill of health, and even said that it wouldn't charge because it was already fully charged. I'd like to add that the fusible links are fine. If anyone could potentially help me figure out what this problem could be, I would really appreciate it.
Honda has a smart charging system
The alternator has five lines
One for the battery
One for the ignition which is hot when key is in on position
The other three talk to the ELD and ECM
They determine what mode the alternator is in .. high for charging or low to reduce engine load and conserve fuel
Maybe this will help
