Default y5 head on y7 block?

2000 civic lx auto with stock y7....off for headgasket repair and the machine shop said it wasnt worth fixing. I have access to a d16y5 head in great condition with 2500 miles after a rebuild that I can pick up for $100, however I can't find anything concrete on what is needed. Can I swap it on and just change the ECU to a Civic HX and be all set? any extra wiring needed?

Thanks

The pistons and rods in the HX are different. So no you can't just put that head on.

Though many D-series parts can mix and match, anything VTEC-E is quite a different animal. You have to swap quite a few parts to change a HX into something else or vice versa.

...and the HX also requires an EGR system and a manual transmission or CVT.

Eh, you can just leave the egr as is...still won't run right though.

it will run, if that's all you care about. it'll run well enough to drive, but not enough to be considered a "usable" y5 head, basically
