Gonna be honest I'm not going to spend 1k on coilovers on this car. I know the you get what you pay for comes into play with this but I dont want to spend over $500 lol. Right now it's on truharts but the springs are super shot and its annoying (bounces way too much). I just got this car about less then a month ago, I dont know how long the previous owner had these coils for. So which brand ya think has the best cheaper coilovers for beater/daily's? Thinking about getting race lands or maybe get new truharts. My previous hatch was on koni's but I dont have that type of money right now.

 

You can always piece together your own setup too. I would personally recommend that instead of getting a cheap one piece coilover. They never last. I've had customers blow out racelands in under a year and bring the car back to me bouncing like crazy. Usually they don't even ride right when they're brand new either. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to suspension.

I'm using Ground Controls with 10k front/8k rear spring rates with KYB AGX adjustable shocks on my CD5. I think the whole setup cost me less than ~$550 because I got the shocks on clearance. 8 years and still going strong. It's been perfect for the street after I got everything dialed in. I will get just a little body roll if I really push the car hard in the corners but that's nothing a slightly stiffer spring couldn't solve.

 

"bounces way too much" sounds more like worn shocks. springs, if worn would be softer or sagging, not firmer and more bouncy. you can replace the shocks for $500 or less.

 

He's already got Truharts which are a cheap one piece setup. Getting the shocks replaced would likely require sending them off and having it done. It's unlikely that Truhart even offers that a service but it may be worth a shot. A entire new set of coilovers from them is only $500 anyway.

yeah right, i was thinking sleeves but he said coilovers. always worth the effort to ask. maybe they would send rebuild kits to local dealers or something. who knows...

good point, but what's the chance he'll be in the same boat again in a few years?
