manual rack n pinion
so my 95 civic lx has a small leak at the power rack and pinion. I have a brand new manual rack I bought for one of my old civics. I know people do the power steering delete, but can I simply drop the power rack and bolt up the manual rack to my current subframe and use the power rack bolts on the manual rack that holds it to the subframe and the same bushings? its a 95 civic lx
The clamps and bushings are different size on the manual and power from my understanding. The manual is smaller. The bolts themselves should be fine, it is the bushings and the clamps that are different.
Don't forget an alignment should be done if you swap your racks or mess with tie rod ends etc.

I’ve read mixed accounts of that. If you disconnect the lines from the pump, put them into a drain pan, and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times to bleed the lines it makes it better.
I've also read where they've pulled the internals out and drilled a couple of holes through the partition piece so fluid can transfer sides easier. That seemed to work well. Fluid then stays to lubricate.
The method I suggested doesn’t get 100% of the fluid out and is a bit easier than gutting and drilling; but it’s 6 of one, half-a-gallon of the other.
the d-sr has had its lines looped for 2 years. its lowered 2.5" and steers the same as a manual civic dx i used to have. key is to make sure the rack has fluid in it before looping, otherwise you'll fry it.
My recommendation:
Just install a replacement power steering rack and do it right.
My Integra is easier to steer with all the p/s stuff hooked up and fluid in it without the belt on than my Civic has ever been a manual rack. It’s up to the op, but he’s got more to think about.
