94 accord LX wagon fuel pump replacement
I need to replace my fuel pump in my 94 lx wagon. The problem is that I filled it recently and don't want to have to siphon the gas out or drop the tank if I can avoid it. A friend told me that he read that the pump on the station wagon can be accessed from under the back seat. Now here is the problem I can't seem to get the back seat out, never mind the fuel pump. Has anybody done this before or is it just an urban myth? I think I could handle it if I could get the seat out.
.
I have already replaced the under dash fuel relay which did nothing so I'm on to the next thing. Hoping somebody has some good news.

Your problem is the main reason I prefer mechanical fuel pumps on the side of the engine! *I also prefer huge engine bays.
Maybe someone knows? If no answer here, could you ask at the local dealership?
I suspect though you'll need to drop the fuel tank. Siphon out the fuel, store it, unhook the wiring and fuel/vent lines, drop the tank on jacks, block it up, put in a new pump, put it all back together.
My dad did that once to a much bigger tank, with all the fuel in it, on a 1975 Pontiac Bonneville. I suspect he was replacing the sending unit.
I stress, I don't know about this car in particular, I could be wrong, anyone else?

Unfortunately these Accords do not come with fuel pump access from the top side. There is an access there but it's only for the sending unit. As far as I know the wagons are no different than the coupe/sedan models. Your options for replacing the fuel pump are either A.)the intended way which requires dropping the tank, or B.) Cutting out sheet metal to access from above. Option B is especially dangerous but it has been done. As for draining the tank there is a drain plug on the back left of the tank that you can remove to drain the fuel out. I would recommend replacing the fuel filter at the same time as the pump.
Thanks for the reply but the sending unit and pump are one unit at least for my model. I've seen the youtube videos where they cut the access hole for the pump on the sedans. To be honest I'm terrified of flaming gasoline. I once saw a co worker try to prime a carburetor with some gasoline in a cup. The carb backfired and on reflex he poured gas on himself when he backed away. I think those guys who do that are literally playing with fire.
I don't know if the dealer will give up his super secret information. Maybe I could give the body shop a call and just ask about the seat? Perhaps I'm just destined to drop the tank or maybe I could ask how to remove the back seat. Somebody had to have dropped something behind the seat.
Fear of being burned alive is a healthy fear! I keep a CO2 extinguisher in my car trunk that I get out and set by the pump every time I stop for gas. I've had two people ask "if I was driving a company vehicle."
There is a 10mm bolt holding the rear seat in..its a little more towards the drivers side almost in the middle..stick yiur hand between the cushions and you will feel it..some models yiu access under the carpet in the trunk..

The sending unit and the fuel pump are certainly NOT in the same location on a 94 wagon. You can access the sending unit from the interior but you need to drop the tank to replace the pump.
