2002 Accord goes into body shop tomorrow.
I need to get my camera issue figured out so I can post you guys some pics.
I live in WV where things rust badly. My 2002 Accord has some bad rust in the driver's side rear wheel well, the "dog leg." Anyway, tomorrow she goes into the body shop to have that cut out and a replacement piece from a 1998 Accord panel bonded in there. Then she get's that area "blended" and I'll get her back.
I'll keep you guys posted. My car has 181K miles and still gets 26 mpg city/highway and 39 mpg highway. I am very fond of her!

I just purchased a very clean 2002 Accord Ex from Pennsylvania and it has a 5-6 inch rust spot along the DS wheel well curve as well.
After I get my trans issue sotred out she's going into the body too.
Good luck with the makeover. Post some pics when she's done.

Thanks man. I need to get my camera figured out (no smartphone) and then I will put up "before" and "after" pics.
If you need help getting a replacement cut out, let me know. I got mine from a body shop in Montana, I'll put you in touch with that guy, he's the most friendly man on Earth. :-) I don't think they use salt on the roads in Montana although they may have started recently.
My car also has some surface rust where panels join underneath, I bought a pint of POR 15, plus the degreaser, and the phosphoric acid that goes along with it. It'll have to wait till spring but I plan to get under it and repair that rust. That might be something for you to check out also.

After the rust is repaired I want to have an OEM 1999 black spoiler I got off a wrecked V6 sedan put on. It might be a bit glossy but I want to try it out. I also want a black pen stripe added on either side and in summer, I'll sport the NOS nose mask. Everything else will be factory original.
This car has the same spoiler idea as I do, what do you guys think? (My car is also silver).
Dang! Cannot get the pic to attach.
Anyway, it's a pic of a silver sedan with glossy black spoiler. Thoughts?

Oh, that is sorta what I was thinking! My back window surround is a gloss black. My biggest regret was not getting the springs/struts and wiring harness off the donor car when I got the spoiler.
Interested in how much you paid for all this? My 02 Accord has a massive rust spot, rear pass wheel well, right where the bumper and trunk connect. I have been told it wasn't worth fixing, car has 178k ish miles, and it does need other repairs. My plan is to get it back and running, then fix the rust. Other problem though, it really needs a full respray with other smaller areas of rust, dings, etc...

Shop estimated $600.00 for the repair and paint blend. I paid $100.00 for the replacement cut-out (from Montana). Body shop suggested using "panel bond" as did other body shops although he said he'd "do it any way I wanted." I considered requesting some plug welding but since there is a hollow in that panel, that may promote rust.
I bought the spoiler out of a tiny junkyard for $40.00 back in 2009 and I picked up a wiring harness and the two springs, both NOS, from an unused kit on ebay for $75.00 plus shipping. I just couldn't get away to a junkyard for springs and no junkyards in WV had anything.

Body shop brought car to my house today. You can't tell there was ever a repair needed! She looks great. The body man gave my car a full buff also and touched up nearly all paint chip areas. He was able to remove the original dealership emblem that had lost all its paint and remove it intact. *I'm considering repainting it and putting it back on.
He found no other rust spots and managed to come in $100.00 less than the estimate and he knocked off the taxes as well.
I took her for a test drive even though she was in the shop so long my inspection sticker had run out.
Tranny is still shifting a bit funny so I think I'll take her in for a fluid change. I'll see if I can talk the dealership into putting the spoiler on at no charge. If they won't, the body man said he'd do it for $100.00.

GUYS BAD NEWS>
I was just under the car and although the rust repair looks great and solid, just below it, is a big hole in what I assume is the "rocker panel." It would have been hidden by that plastic piece of trim that runs along the bottom of the car on either side. I am rather upset with myself that I didn't get under there before having the body work done. Big time oversight for sure.
I assume that area would have to be welded up as it is next to the driver's side rear "jack point." *Jack point is solid though. I wish the body shop had told me about that.....but it's possible the guy never saw it as he doesn't have a lift.
