I am new to the site and just got a 91 crx si with a boosted b17a1. it has a 18g greddy turbo kit . when I drive the car it runs fine at first and everything works . also when I am driving it down the highway . then when it seems to warm up or I am driving it in town ( at a slower speed) for 15-20 mins and the temp gets above half way. then I get on it . it will cut out when I push to hard on the gas and start boosting . the rpms will go to 0 and then the check engine light will come on. stay on. I take my foot off the gas and the rpms will go back to where they were and as long as I push easy into the gas it will go up to 80mph not problem . it will continue to run like this and the check eng. light will stay on and as long as I don't push it to hard it will run fine . any ideas where to start ?

 

start with finding out what code the computer is giving you for the check engine light (MIL) to activate. Could be a malfunctioning sensor somewhere. Also, your engine temp should NOT be at half-way.

 

the temp doesn't go about half way it just gets warmer if I drive in stop and go traffic. it kind of seems like once something gets to warm it starts acting up . when this happens it starts to idle higher too
