My tach quit working???
My tachometer quit working and I don't know why. Can someone help me fix this problem? Before it stopped working, it would jump wildly and my car would skip whenever it jumped. But now it doesn't work at all and the car runs fine. I'm puzzled.
Probably the Ignitor in the dist.
Mine did the same thing until the tach quit working and the motor ran fine
Any B-series ignitor will work or one out of a 90-93 ls motor or a 89-91 si or i believe the dx one will work also
Hope this helps

I had tried a new ignitor when the tach was jumping and the car was skipping, and that did not help. The tach jumped and the car still skipped with the brand new ignitor, so I don't think that is the problem. I took the new ignitor back and put the old one back in and nothing changed until a few days later when the tach finally quit working.
check the tach wire from the distributor (the blue one). Mine was grounded and the tach stopped working all together, but the car ran fine otherwise. Maybe you knocked something loose while installing the ignitor?
I found out what it was. I was told that the TDC (top dead center) sensor in the distributor is bad. So I just have to buy a new distributor. That sucks though, cause they aren't cheap.
