1998 Honda Accord Upgrade advice
Hello,
I have a 1998 Honda Accord EX with an F23a1 Engine, I am not certain of what tranny is in the car other than that it is an AT. I am seeking advice on what engine I could swap into the car to boost power, and what tranny I could pair with it to also get a bit better mileage(I am getting around 24-25 mpg). I know it’s a bit backwards to want more power and also want better mileage. I know there are already numberous threads talking about stuff like this but I do not know how to navigate these forums very well, and would appreciate any and all advice with this
I have experience with building muscle cars, but this is my first import car and I am excited about it!

Use the search function. Alternatively you can use google and add "site:honda-tech.com" at the end of your query without quotations.
If you want to stay auto I'm not sure I can reliably recommend another transmission that will benefit you. The automatic transmissions in your generation Accord are known for failure and problems. They are not simple and bulletproof like most domestic automatics. One of the first mods most people do who are serious about performance is a 5 speed swap. I can say that doing that will benefit both your MPG and the quickness of the car. However it is a pretty involved process.

H22, H23A blue top, F20B will all be relatively easy swaps. They all have their pros and cons. If strictly staying NA and it's a daily driver I would recommend the H23A blue top. Not as high strung as the others but makes a good bit of torque down low for good daily manners.

By "involved process" I'm assuming an auto to manual transmission swap would be pretty expensive to have done, right?
I love my 2002 Accord but I more and more miss driving a manual.

More power, nasty boosted and better fuel efficiency can not be said in the same sentence. Don't even waste your time looking at swapping in an older used H22, H23 or F20B.
If you are looking to go boost in the end, might as well freshen up your current F23, swap in a 5 speed trans from a 96-02 Accord with upgraded clutch and flywheel and boost that. cheaper, easier and nastier in the long run. Fuel economy will come down to the quality of the turbo, fuel and tuning systems you put into it.
