Default Removed my first transmission

Well I had to remove my transmission on my 1989 EF today, it's been B16A swapped, well the pilot bearing ate the dust and screwed up my friction plate, no problem i'll just replace it.

The real problem is that I was removing a bracket that goes from the transmission (from one of the bottom holes on the dust shield) to the block and the bolt on the block side came out really easy, then i noticed that the threads from the block pulled out....

Is this thing essential to have?
