Default Pic request/input. TL-S brembo vs RL Advics on CL9

I'll start off by saying this is a show car more so than anything else. My current project is an OEM brake upgrade, being a "for looks car" i'm torn between the TL-S Brembo which looks absolutely massive compare to the RL Advics caliper. I know a lot more is involved in the TL-S Brembo to go on the TSX along with alignment issues. What deters me from the Advics caliper is it looks notably smaller(?) I know the rotor is 10mm larger but i'm just after sheer caliper size. Along with the lack of pad options should I decide to raise it and put some RPF1s on it some day. The pic request is: does anyone have a side-by-side of the RL Advics and TL=S Brembo, any pics and vids I've seen the TL caliper alone is larger.

thanks.

Thanks man! i'm going to have to say the TL-S Brembos are in fact bigger, judging by the positioning of the spokes. Bet they look even bigger with a bright colour painted on. Thanks a lot! saved me buying the cheaper ones, only to be disappointed..

Did you have any positive camber alignment issues at the hight you were with the TL brembos?

No problem.

To explain a bit...

The Advics is the top photo.

The TL calipers are physically larger.

But the RL's actual caliper pistons and rotor sizing is bigger.

The brembos are shown on an actual TLS. The Advics (JDM Legend) are on a TSX. Same wheels though...so it doesn't really matter.

The brembo swap is much more difficult....especially if you want to keep the correctly sized TL rotors. But the piston sizing is more correct, and the pad choices are WAY better.

99.9% of the Advics pad choices are ceramic. Which sucks. But you can find semi-metallics. Then again...you likely want ceramics anyway because its a show car.

The Advics fill the wheel much better because of the rotor sizing (use the fatcat motorsports 12.8" rotor kit...not the fastbrakes kit) The Brembo caliper itself probably looks better...the Advics calipers are kinda ugly.

Why don't you just get Spoon calipers if this is for show? Small rotors, but they look amazing. And they bolt right on.

Ridiculously expensive here, in the realm of $2,250 CAD after 13% tax. Even if I bought them from the states I'd get hit with brokerage/tax fee's so high it would be just as expensive if not more. Plus I really love the look of the TL Brembo and would go so far as to say it's larger than the spoon caliper.

i know you said "oem"
but have u considered wilwood big brake kit?
they use 12.xx inch rotor
two piece disk
4 piston caliper
$550-650 usd bnib idk how much in cad

IDK how much it will cost for 04-08 tl-s brembo brake upgrade
but just to put it out there

also just input what wheels you putting on your show car
does the oem TL brembo clear it?

One thing to keep in mind, if you do opt for the Brembo solution, they weren't limited to the TL Type-S models; they could also be found on the 2004-2006 TLs with the 6MT; here's what they look like on my car:

I was only able to find one or 2 pics of that kit on a TSX, and "size for size" the Brembo caliper it's self looked notably "bigger". While it may sound dumb, I was just after the largest possible caliper I could find. I picked up some TL brembos and knuckles last week. Just sent them off to get powder coated, Ford's own "Nitrous Blue" with white Brembo decals. I'm against the use of spacers, so looks like i'm limited to the Enkei RPF1 17x8 maybe the NT03-M 18x9. The only "bigger" caliper I could find was the Stoptech ST-40 kit or one of the Endless kits but those are like $4.5K CAD so I didn't count those. I'll update with a running total but my best guess is just under $1.5K CAD all said and done depending if you use OEM Honda parts, counting new wheels to fit over them and the paint probably double. I'm enjoying it. and i'll make sure to post the end result and all the parts/prices I paid.
