Old head here...question regarding CVT's.
Hi all, former Honda head turned Volkswagggggggeon commuter, turned bicyclist, turned Honda commuter here....
I recently purchased a '15 Civic SE. Though I had some misgivings about the CVT (was always a manual trans or gtfo sort of guy), 5 years of Bay Area rush hour traffic made me realize that there are certain situations where an automatic can be very very nice. Low and behold, after a few weeks I started to like the CVT. Fast forward a few months and I have to say that, once again, Honda has built a very nice little transmission.
But on to the question itself...
Cars today are so much more computerized than what I used to build. I mean even bottom of the line civics have drive-by-wire throttles now? INSANITY. Where is my mechanical linkage to adjust for perfect throttle response? I know that ECU's can be reflashed and/or are programable. Is there somethign similar for CVT's? I thought it would be fun to play with the gear ratios in Sport mode....if such a thing were possible.
