91 honda crx hf check engine light goes on/off
Curious how to check the engine light? I know theirs blue plug on passenger side under the carpet and i tried shoving paper clip in, but didnt work. idk if it wont read because my check engine light only comes on when i drive a certain mile or mainly when i pull foot off the gas to exit freeway n down shift just pops on randomly n goes away when i shut car off n back on.
turn the ignition to the "on" position - pull back the carpet in the passenger side footwell to expose the ECU - you should see a flashing red LED on top of the ECU - count the number of times it flashes and that will give you the trouble code - if you have more than one code, it will flash a number of times for the first code, pause, and then flash the next code, and so on - the CEL will go off when you shut off the ignition and stay off until another problem (or the same problem) is detected, causing another CEL, however, the codes remain in the ECU until you physically remove them by re-setting the ECU

Damn thankyou so much i finally was able to read the code. Its the vechile speed sensor. Just my speedometer never worked when i bought this Frankenstein car i feel the code came on right after replacing the clutch flywheel n clutch cable. But the transmission is an 88 honda civic in it idk why since its a 91. So how would i go about fixing that
first, check to see if the speedometer cable is secured to the transmission - maybe needs it needs a speedometer cable - could be broken - the sensor is in the gauge cluster
Speedometer cable was never attached n all messed up when i was replacing the clutch n flywheel. But can swap the clusters also with another year of honda or are they not compatible. I also thought the speed sensor is around where throttle body n air filter would connect like a plug
