2000 honda odyssey brakes

2000 honda odyssey brakes
So I did new shoes on the brake drum of a 2000 honda odyssey and the parking brake lever doesn't want to go in the issue. Dad forced it on in one side and it's doesn't swivel and it takes force to move it. Any one know if I need different shoes or a new parking brake lever?
