Just purchased a 99 accord ex
so I purchased a 99 accord ex, 2.3L vtec, manual transmission for $500. It has 167k miles. I bought it so I could learn about car maintenance. My current daily driver is a 2004 grand am. I replaced my rack and pinion on it myself after never working on a car in my life, and found that I actually enjoyed working on vehicles. A co worker told me they had an accord in their driveway that has sat for a little over a year because they didnt know how to replace the top dead center sensor. The fact that it was manual transmission and vtec had me interested, and they offered me the car for $500, so I took it right away. There are maybe three dime sized rust spots in the paint, otherwise the car is immaculate inside and out. I am officially the car’s third owner, where as the first owner was an elderly man that documented every bit of maintenance ever performed, from its first oil change until his last fuel fill up at 162k miles. Second owner was my co worker which documented nothing, but drove it for 5k miles before this sensor went out.
I’ll throw some pictures up in the next day, but the car is 100% stock. Are there any specifics I should look at with this car at this point? Anything that generally needs repaired at 167k miles that I should be aware of? Assume I know nothing about cars but can follow a repair manual properly, and have a good set of tools and the right mindset.
