Default repainted gutted turbo dx eg coupe

Hey guys, this is my first time posting somewhat of a build thread so please take it easy on me lmao. So I bought a 93 civic coupe back in February, and it started out as a budget ls turbo build. Came with a b18b and a b16 trans so I thought that was a great start for my plans, well since taking out the motor tucking and gutting the car I’ve taken it to a buddy of mine that’s well known around the area to respray the entire car. While I’ve been waiting I’ve gonna a little crazy with buying **** for it and have pretty much gone over double and then some of what I originally expected to drop into it. So I’ll start by posting some pics of the car when I got it.

Originally got a full race ram horn manifold and decided to go to this PLM top mount manifold, with a cheap rev 9 turbo.

Then got a great deal on a gsr head from a buddy of mine with a skunk 2 style intake manifold.

And decided to upgrade to a precision 5558 turbo

Got the head mounted on and sprayed the engine and trans with a ceramic engine coating. I know some people don’t like this but I think it will look extremely good when it’s sitting in the bay.

Got a Burton racing coil on plug kit and sent my Ecu to Robert Burton in Florida to have a COP board installed in my ECU. Speed factory coil blockoff on distributor.

Looks really nice!

Any thoughts of putting a cage in while you’ve got it stripped down to the bare chassis?

Definitely thought about it, but it will be mostly a street car and worry that in an accident the cage may **** me up more than anything, but it’s one of those situations where either way there isn’t much there to save someone. And actually going with 3 point harnesses as well because I’ve done research on four point harnesses without a roll bar hold you up right and in the case of the roof crushing your head is stuck in the upright position... either way really don’t even wanna think about those scenarios lmao but I’m hoping it will be quick enough to get me kicked off the track when I do take it, that will make me happy lol

Bay all untaped. Body panels will go on and be aligned and fitted this week, then the entire car will get blocked, then sealer and paint.

You really only need a cage if you're going 11.5 or faster and at that point only need a 6 point. It also depends on the track, some non NHRA tracks really don't care that much. Now if you race at an NHRA track then you won't be able to race.

Not really building to be a track car, is a street car with occasional track runs but if I can’t hop on the track I’m cool with that too lol

Yeah which is why you don't really need a cage, I mean if you were building a car capable of 10's or something and it was hitting the track frequently it would make sense but it doesn't sound like that is the case.
