D16Y8 CAM HOLDER PROBLEM
Hello, new user here. My dilemma is that I cracked the top mount for the distributor on the cam holder (passenger side, right next to the distributor). I've have had a slew of different answers on how to fix this issue. Whether it being, replacing the entire rocker arm assembly, taking a junk one and replacing it, and welding the crack. What would be the best way to correct this issue? I gotta get this car rolling again cuz my Cherokee is expensive to gas up. Thank You.
If it's an actual cam cap you cannot just slap another one on, it has to be line honed to the cam.
The proper fix, if it's a cam cap, is to replace it with new and take the head into the machine shop so that they can line hone the new cap to the cam shaft.

Two things you can try that may get the car running until the proper fix can be done (per TomCat39)
1) JB-Weld the cracked part back on. it's already broken... trying to stick it back on won't make it worse. careful of the excess. use distributor hosing and bolts to support while it cures. keep JB-Weld off of the dist. housing with a sheet of wax paper or lots of masking tape.
2) test fit a cam cap from another engine and check the clearance with some plasti-gage. (check too with the caps torqued down but the cam out. the seam should be flush, smooth to the touch between the head and cap inside the journal bore) again, not the proper fix, but you could get lucky and find one that fits.
these are things I would only suggest you do at your own risk, on your own car willing to face whatever consequences you're dealt.
