Alternators: Difference Between B-series del Sol and OBD1 Integra?
I have a OBD1 B18C1 in my '94 Civic Si.
The last time I had to replace the alternator, I bought one for '94-'95 del Sol w/ B16.
When I look up part numbers, this alternator does not cross with the alternator used in '94-'95 Integra.
What are the differences? Why wouldn't they use the same alternator?
Thanks!

possibly different manufacturer from the factory? i've used b20 on gsr, etc.. they all seem to interchange and work fine.
Differences in amperage/charging output is what makes the alternator part numbers different in any given model year of "B" series applications.
All "B" series alternator cases are similar except the ITR alternator... although any choice places the alternator pulley in the proper location for proper belt alignment. Pulley diameter will vary slightly so belt selection will vary slightly. Bolt patterns will be identical regardless of model year or application. Plug locations will be similar... certainly reachable from one application to another without lengthening any wires. Plug styles will be similar as I stated above "in any given model year"... meaning all 1995 and OLDER alternators will have a large round plug and all 1996 and NEWER alternators will have the smaller squarish plug.

The front case is more like that of the "D" series alternators in profile/contour... the casting webbing near the alternator shaft is raised up and away from the rest of the alternator body requiring additional clearance for this on the back of the alternator pulley. In addition, the alternator shaft is longer to work with the deeper pulley mounting depth.
