Default 2002 honda civic

I am going to install a used auto transmission in this car. Does this car have an inline filter somewhere, if so where is it? If not, should I put one in? Which port on the transmission is the return line.... I assume the filter should be placed on this line.

The filters are all internalized and not really designed for routine replacement.

Can someone confirm if the passenger side port on the transmission cooler is the return side going back to the transmission? I want to back-flush the cooler and lines before I connect them up to the "new" transmission. What is the general consensus on installing an aftermarket filter on the return side...advisable or not?

I'd prefer the reman route with the install of the 04-05 larger internal ATF filter.
I installed a Magnefine ATF inline with the return ATF line on a 2001 Honda Odyssey which I thought was catching some clutch debris. Still did not prevent the trans failing in that van though. I still have one left over and I opted not to install on my current Honda. Just drain and fills every 3rd oil change with Honda DW-1 ATF.
Just make sure that the lines and ATF cooler are flushed completely of debris before you install the used trans.
Use only Honda DW-1 ATF.

Obviously, I'd like to put in a rebuilt tranny as well but that's not in the budget. I'd like to back flush the lines but I'm still waiting for the answer to my previous question...Can someone confirm if the passenger side port on the transmission cooler is the return side going back to the transmission?
