I have a 2001 Civic LX - A few months ago I was driving and my car all of a sudden wouldn’t go over 20mph and RPM’s real low with a CEL on, and I scanned the codes and it was showing P1361 Top Dead sensor Camshaft positioning sensor. I replaced the sensor and it fixed everything and haven’t had a problem since until today.
Same thing happened,CEL came on and I couldn’t go over 20mph so I pulled over and shut off the car and then turned it back on it was fine to make it home. Just scanned the code again and it’s showing the same code.....
any ideas? Maybe because it wasn’t a “Honda” sensor? I bought the sensor from advanced auto.

the other reason a camshaft position sensor could be showing an error is because, in fact, your camshaft is not in the correct position. Have you checked TDC and cam timing?

when I replaced the sensor I did notice that the cam timing was not lined up with the little notches on the cam gears thinking this could be the issue
Uh, YEAH. That would DEFINITELY be an issue. TDC the first cylinder, and if the cam gear doesn't line up, go replace your timing belt and tensioner.
