Default 2001 accord tranny question

Recently acquired a new auto tranny for my 01 accord (3.0 v6 w/auto). What is the easiest way togo about replacing said transmission? Also, are there any upgrades that i can do to the transmission prior to install to make it more robust without a complete tear down??

Default Re: 2001 accord tranny question

there are probably a few "how-to's" out there for this.

off the top of my head: the sub-frame will need to come off (front "K" shaped part) axles out, shifter and cooler lines disconnected as well as anything else that mounts to or connects with the transmission. there is an access panel near the oil pan that allows you to undo the flex plate to torque converter bolts. at that point bolts between trans and mounts holding trans into frame are all that should be left.

going in you'll need to decide between two options-

1) buy, rent or build a support brace to hold the engine up while the transmission is out (it will be poorly supported with the transmission out)
2) remove the engine and transmission together.

either way it's going out through the bottom.

(this is just the jist, i've left out many details. I recommend you source a factory service manual if you decide to tackle this project yourself)
