I have a 2000 4 cyl Accord. A rock hit my condenser and the AC stopped getting cold. before I found the hole in the condenser I did a pretty thorough checkout of the system and everything else was working (compressor clutch engaged, fans came on, interior controls all responded like they're supposed to). So, bought a new condenser, swapped it out, evacuated the system....aaaand now my compressor clutch wont engage and my cooling fans wont come on.

Any ideas what I broke?

I checked all the fuses, swapped a bunch of relays around, but didn't find any obvious breaks. I'm not really a Honda guy, and I wont have time to sit and dig into it with a meter until next weekend, so I figured I'd ask around see if there's any "oh yeah this thing breaks easy" checks you guys think I should do.

It might also be worth noting that I didn't completely pull the radiator when I replaced the condenser, I just undid the top brackets and leaned it back, so I may have put some strain on the fan wiring, though on visual inspection nothing looks off, and I don't see why that would also take out the compressor.

 

when you pulled a vacuum, did you let it sit for a half hour before checking it to be sure it wasn't losing vacuum ?

 

Sure did. No leaks anymore.

How would that affect the compressor and fan coming on? Is there a vacuum sensor somewhere?

 

check for continuity at the pressure switch
