2004 Accord — stall or RPM jump with turn signal
We have a 2004 Accord with 230K miles. It has a rebuilt transmission, but otherwise has performed well. Recently, during highway driving, it started jumping RPMs (+500) when the turn signal was activated for a lane change, and occasionally when the brake was applied. The RPM jump is very brief (less than a second) and there are no other symptoms. Similarly, the car also sometimes stalls if the turn signal is activated while the car is stopped. If I shift into Park, it starts right up.
Our mechanic thought the problem was the ignition switch, and so we had it replaced. However, the problem persists. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or does anyone have a suggestion of what the problem might be?

Multi function switch AKA: Turn signal lever might be the problem.
Disconnect the wire harness from the cruise control mechanism under the hood.
Remove the fuse for the turn signals and see if anything changes?
Does the rpm change when you turn on the hazard flasher lights?
Blinkers/brake pedal/hazard lights and cruise control system all share some common wires within the multi function switch.....the only thing I can think of that would affect the engine rpm's when turning on the blinkers (because the wires are associated with the brake light wires) or pressing the brake pedal or activating/deactivating cruise control......the engine jumping up 500 rpm's briefly.......makes me suspect that the TCC solenoid is disengaging (which would easily explain the 500 rpm jump)................
Additionally, when a TCC solenoid is engaged into the on position prematurely (not in O/D), the engine can stall. So, in my opinion the TCC is malfunctioning for some reason associated with the electrical components mentioned above.

For example, 2004 six cylinders have drive-by-wire throttle system; whereas, 2004 four cylinders did not. So, there are differences in the models.
