Default Installing AEM CAI on a DX

Can anyone give me some tips/pointers/what to watch for cuz I'm going to install it tonight. Any special tools I need? I have 97 Civic DX. Before you tell me "Do a search NOOB!!", I already did, and all the results were for Preludes. Thx, Lata.

Huh?! Why would you have to cut anything? Didn't it come with instructions? My suggestion is turn it upside down, cut a hole in the hood and have it stick out from there.
I don't really mean to be a dick ::chuckle:: but, just look under your hood and it should be obvious what to do.

on some of the 96+ people have had to cut out the hole it goes through in the fender. Its a stamped circle, you can use whatever to trim it if your car doesnt have the hole already.

dude intake is the easiest thing to install, it takes approximately 8 minutes.

its very obvious and if you still have trouble, invest in a helms, you will need it later for much bigger projects

Default It's simple

Make sure the motor is cold. You wil have to remove and replace the antifreeze line to the throttle body. Remember to reset your ecu once you are done.

Default Hole

i dont think so

Sorry dude he is right. I installed three AEM intakes on three different DX hatchbacks (99-00). All required me to cut out a circle in the inner fender. The hole is not there like in a ex because the DX has a different style intake that doesn't have the resonator in the fender well.

How do you reset the ecu? Unhook the battery, right?

i didn't have to cut anything on mine. unless the coupe and hb are different. instead of having to go through where the cut-through is on other models it curves around the entire well and drops the filter right behind the corner of the bumper. very easy straight forward install.

these are pics of the aem CAI on my 99 DX

you do NOT!!!! have to cut anything.

the only hard thing to do is get the stock filter unit off....and thats because the band holding it on is a BITCH to get off! (The bolt faces the back of the car)
