Default Girlfriends CRX HF failed emmissions, high Hydro-carbons...Throwing EGR Code

My girlfriends CRX Hf failed emissions due to high hydro-carbon output. Her Check engine light is on and the ecu is throwing a code for EGR problems. I assume these are related but i have no clue where to start looking to fix the problem, sorry about my ignorence but i have never had to deal with this problem. Any ideas or help? Thanks

EGR is gone bad and HC is way up there first thing to do is clean out your EGR by using brake cleaner products then slap it back in and then check for vacuun on the EGR if everything works out fine second setup will be tune up and then resect ecu.

My girlfriends old CRX did this too. First thing is pull off the vaccuum line and check for vaccuum, look up in Helms. If there is vaccuum, it's probably a torn diaphragm in the EGR, if there is no vaccuum good luck. This is what hers did, I traced it back to the Box 'O Vaccuum lines and finally gave up and took it to a shop. I think it was about $75.
