Default 95 civic d16y8 swap. Ecu questions

So i bought a 95 civic coupe for really cheap a week ago. Registered and drove 20 miles and threw a rod through the oil pan. I picked up a 97 d16y8 with a head gasket issue for 100$ so i couldnt pass that up. So my question is, what all is needed for this swap? I know its simple and theres not much i dont know. I need to know what ecu do i need? I see alot of arguments about the p28. Some say it will work and some say no. I dont want to modify the ecu really. I want basically plug and play. And was wondering if i can run it with my stock ecu. And if i have to hook up vtec right now for it to run. Not that great with wiring honestly. I get all confused with the threads because there is no true how- to's for the vtec hook up from what ive seen. I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

The P28 ECU will work pretty well. Remember that the D16Z6 was rated at 125 HP at the crank... and the D16Y8 was rated just TWO more at 127 HP at the crank. This is less than a 2% increase in performance... and since the VTEC crossover points and rev limits are similar... the engine personalities are nearly identical. You could set the stock fuel pressure 3 psi higher just to be super safe.

Do not run the engine without wiring up VTEC... and don't run it with the wrong ECU.

Ok. So im having a hard time finding a p28 for an auto d16. But i did find a p91 imported from japan. And they said its for a d16a auto. Will this work or is the d16a a different tune than the y8?
