i have a 1996 Accord LX 2.2L that has an oil leak coming from under the distributor area, not a major leak at all but I am selling the car. I'll attach A picture of the area leaking, it appears to be coming from the grey connector that I pulled off and saw a good amount of oil inside, does anyone know what this sensor is (red and green wired grey connector in pic)? Next step will be to degrease the engine and add oil dye if necessary. Any ideas or help would be very helpful. Thank you
I believe the O-rings on your distributor shaft have hardened and brittle, thereby allowing oil to flow through. There are two O-rings: 1st one is inside the distributor near the casing and the 2nd one is between the distributor and the oil cover. The 2nd O-ring can be purchased at the Honda dealership and easy to change out. The 1st one is a little more challenging. After several attempts, I bought a new distributor from O'Reilly's for about $180.
