Icon5 EP3 short ram intake

Hey everyone I'm new to this forum so if this is in the wrong place please move it

Anyway I have a 2004 Civic Si ep3 hatch that I'm looking to upgrade. Pretty sure it has a 2.0L engine but I will have to make sure. First thing I want to do is add is a new intake just to make my car my own a bit. I'm not looking to spend more than $150 on it so I've been looking around at my options. I like Fujita's short ram from what I can tell on this internet but I cant figure out which of their intakes I should buy that would fit my engine. Can anyone give me a link to one that would fit? Also if you know any better intakes in that price range feel free to drop me some links. Thanks everyone

To answer your questions, in order:

>Technically yes, it is an 01-05 civic but there is a special sub-forum for it since it's so different from the others.
>If it's USDM, it has the K20A3 2.0L engine.
>Most RSX intakes will fit as well, the engine and most of the chassis are identical.

You don't want the intake that goes down toward the back of the engine bay, that'll just draw in hot air from the exhaust header area. Try to find one that pulls air from below the battery. Or just take the stock airbox out, grab some appropriate sized metal (or PVC if you're desperate, don't recommend.) tubing and go to town. I literally slapped a conical spectre filter on the flex tube of my stock intake. Boom, done. My old hatch had a hood scoop for a true cold air intake. you can do some fun stuff with it for sure.

Thanks for the response bud. Could you link me to that sub-forum? Maybe I'll ask this there too. And you're right it is a K20A3 but I couldn't remember if it was 2.0L or 2.4L. I'll look for RSX intakes as well because I'm sure there are lots more options than that. Also thanks for the tips when installing it. I've never worked on a car myself, I bought this car as a daily driver as well as a bit of a project/learning car. Didn't know you could jury rig an intake that much but it makes sense why. I doubt I'd do anything like that though with so little experience.

Honda engines are reaaaaaly simple when it comes to identification. There's the series, the displacement, and the head type/compression. K series is a modern DOHC, 20 is the displacement (2.0), A3 is the compression and head type ( lower compression intake vtec only) K24A2s are 2.4 L DOHC high compression dual cam vtec. D, A and F are old school SOHC, B and H are old school DOHC. L series can be DOHC or SOHC. then the number is just displacement in deci-liters basically lol.

If you do some research, you’ll quickly see that it would be worth your while to spend a little more money on a cold air intake. They go down under your battery and the filter resides in just behind the bumper on the driver’s side.
I have some pics and info on my build thread at epharch.com.
I have an injen and really like it. And yes, I had a short intake first - the cai was much more strong on my very reliable butt dyno.
