Ok, so I removed my rear hatch, ground everything out, cleaned it and used seam sealer and put it back together. Took the tail lights out, cleaned the gaskets, made sure they were good and reinstalled them. Still getting water. Only option I have now is to take the roof trim pieces off...my question is the difficulty level...can they be reused? Can they be purchased new if they cannot be reused? And what are they called? lol
I'm pretty sure they're called roof channels and I can't find them with a quick glance on Honda parts sites. They're super old and dried out, so you likely cannot reuse them. Have you checked out the official waterleak thread? It's full of useful info and places to check. Best way honestly is to have somebody blast the car with a hose while you're sitting in it, hopefully with some interior parts removed.
My Si hatch rusted out on the roof/windshield area on the driver's side and made water run down the pillar to pool in the foot area. I'm not restoring it, and it's a daily driver so we just siliconed the flippity crap out of it. Do what you will. Cutting and replacing parts of the body will get expensive really fast.
Check the corners at the rear end of the roof channels. This is where the cracks will be the worst. Can try just sealing them up where it’s visible to see if it helps.
The channels cannot be purchased new, so idk about getting replacements. Consensus is that, if you are very careful removing them, they can be reinstalled.
Thank you guys, I might try pulling back the driver's side a little to get my wire wheel in there and seal it up. That's the only other place it could be coming from really, cause the hatch is sealed.
I mean it's leaking already. I wouldn't worry too much about jacking up a piece of rubber/plastic that already isn't doing its job. Even if you snap it off it can be stuck back on cosmetically with silicone, so whatever.
