My 92 eg si has a stock d16z6 engine that sometimes doesn't start or it starts but immediately shuts off. I replaced the cap and rotor and it was starting consistantly for a while and then it started acting up again. I recently purchased this car in Feb' 18 so I don't know any of its quirks. I think the problem lies in the distributor, any mechanical input is greatly appreciated.

 

Ignition Control Module?

 

When it starts and stops immediately don't touch the key, until you check if the oil and battery lights on the dash come on. If they do not come on (as they should whenever the key is on but engine is not turning), the ignition switch is probably bad.

 

I had the ignition control module checked and it turned out to be bad so I replaced it and I haven't had any issues yet. Thank you for your responses, you were very helpful.
