2002 Honda Accord LX, 2.3L

 

I also have the code for P0706- a malfunction with the Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Range/Performance. Both codes appeared around the same time and the car drives normally except it will jump into second gear and if i accelerate too hard the RPMs downshifting will go nuts on me so i've taken to babying the accelerator so as not to inspire any serious problems, I've also observed a noticeable decrease in fuel efficiency.

 

Oil level?

When was your last oil change?

 

Range sensor is exterior on trans case. Check behind the right side wheel, look for any new damage.
Has there been any recent work done on the car? It may be a loose wire or harness issue.
