Icon5 Emergency brake not working after caliper replacement

Honda Civic 2010 EX Automatic

Hi there!

I replaced the rear right caliper and it look like everything went well except that the brake pad feels a little spongy and the emergency brake now does not brake when I apply it.

I thought maybe air got into the line and I bled the whole system following the order from the repair manual : FL, FR, RR, RL. I pump the brake pad ~8 times for each brake and refilled the master cylinder every time. I saw no air whatsoever coming out of the bleeding valve. But after doing all this the brake pad is just the same as before the full bleeding and the emergency brake is still not working.

In all cases the brake fluid was flowing well so I don't think I have any problems with the brake hoses, banjo bolts, or bleeding valves...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

bleed until brake fluid flows clean without bubbles at the corners specified in the order specified. keep the reservoir cap off or loose to prevent vapour lock.

it sounds like you got two issues since the caliper system is hydraulic and the ebrake is mechanical

make sure you tightened down the banjo bolt fully and then check the cable didn't somehow break
