Heres the deal,,,,,I have a del sol,,,I did a ZC VTEC swap (yes it does exist,, sohc vtec) Well i got it started,,,,but it wont stay started,,,,It will stay started if i keep my foot on the gas, but wont rev pass 3k if i goto 3k it dies,,,if i let off the gas, it dies,,,wont idle,,,I put it in safe mode, and it is not throwing any codes at all,,The fuel pressure is 38,,,and all hoses are hooked up so no vacume leaks,,,what could be the problem??? PLEASE HELP!!! if anyone in columbus ohio can help me it would be great!! thanks!

 

Ok let me get this straight..............you took a 1.6l vtec 16v head and put it on top of a ZC block...Hmmmmm WHY???????you were better off keeping the ZC head on the block...its DOHC....you can make more power out of a DOHC motor then a SOHC.....But lets see if i could help......pull the plugs out and see if they are black....if they are they are to rich and you need to check and see if the TPS is in the correct place.....And you might be to high on compression because you have a longer stroke now....the stroke on a ZC motor is longer then a LS motor b18a...so you might need more fuel...and check your timing.....that might be off to....that all will make it do that.....

I guess you missed the part where he said ZC SOHC VTEC

Just a D16Z6 is all it is.

 

it is a actual ZC VTEC,,,,it came in the JDM CRX's a ZC VTEC is a SOHC motor,,it is just like the D16z6 BUT has a little more hp and a little more tq

try turning the dist. and check timing.

 

do you mean you got a SOHC ZC and put a vtec head on it, or there is an actual ZC vtec out there? ive never heard of that. and another thing, its possible to put a single cam head on the DOHC ZC block? ive never heard of that either. anyways, is your idle a little ruff, if so check your cam timing.

 

OK I tried turning the dist. and it reved higher,,,,now it wont go pass 4k,,,and still holds no idle, it seems like it wants to, but it gets so low then it dies.

and YES the ZC VTEC is "out there" it just doesn't come tp the US often... IT IS A ZC [B]SOHC [B] VTEC,,,,and NO the head and block were not just put together like a LS VTEC, it came from the japan factories like this,,,

which ecu are you using?? did you check your cams?
