Questions about engine swap... Pros and cons of Euro R or JDM 4th gen engine swap
First, I am not looking to mod the engine to get max HP. Basically the swap is to accomplish 2 goals. 1. Reliability and 2. Swap transmission for a better hwy cruising rpm.
I a new to Hondas so all of the variations and aftermarket parts are confusing to learn all at once. While the initial cost of each JDM engine is within a few hundred dollars between the 2 I am having a hard time figuring what additional cost would I incur with the Euro R if I go OBD1?
Will my current ECU (93 vtec) be able to run the JDM version? The only mods that I would do are headers and a AEM cold air intake as mine has a cheap aftermarket one now. Also PO must have jumped a curb as oil pan is dented and it has a exhaust leak. So most likely will do an exhaust upgrade as well.
The tuning aspect of this adventure has me totally confused.

What makes you pick the "H" series engine over a "B" series ??? Keeping A/C is more difficult with the "H" over a "B"... even more difficult than a "K" swap. Your P28 ECU will only properly run the engine you had originally... you would need to convert it to a tunable system. The Hondata s300 is the most economical popular system out there... that is my recommendation regardless of which engine you use.
F20b swap would be the most reliable
And of course you need proper ecu/tune for the engine
Accord engines nees some electric work to be done since theyre obd2b and wiring is little bit different than in preludes
